5 Unusual and Creative Urns

July 25, 2022

With cremation services in Columbia, TN increasing in popularity each year, you or a loved one may consider this option. Although with cremation you don’t need to decide what type of casket, you do need to choose what type of urn you would like. With more and more options becoming available on the market every day, there is no shortage of choices. From traditional with a twist to totally unique, here are just some of the urns available.

1. Candle Urn

Typically, candle urns are designed much like a traditional urn in that the urn is made of one vase-like compartment with a top, and inside is where the remains are held. With a candle burn, however, the top will house a place for a candle to be placed. The size can differ from that of a taper candle to a tealight. The candle can be lit anytime and once burned, can be replaced. When lit, these make a very nice tribute.

2. Hourglass Urn

For those who would like something to serve as a reminder of how life and time are precious and limited, an hourglass urn might be a good choice. While these aren’t the most accurate pieces, they work in the same way as an hourglass does. The difference is that instead of the hourglass is filled with sand, it is filled with a portion of remains. This makes a very unique urn.

3. Stuffed Animal Urn

If you want something you can cuddle with, a stuffed animal urn is perfect. This urn is made just like any other stuffed animal except that inside there is a special compartment with a soft pouch that holds the remains. These are a comforting way to keep your loved ones close and be able to snuggle with them. You can find these in a variety of teddy bears and other animals.

4. Cremation Jewelry

While this isn’t an entire urn, cremation jewelry offers a way to keep a very small portion of your loved one’s remains with you by placing them in a piece of jewelry. These pieces can be found online in bracelets, rings, necklaces, and more. Each piece has a small compartment either made into the jewelry or added on, such as with a charm or pendant, that you fill with a portion of the remains.

5. Floating Shelf UrnCremation Services in Columbia, TN

The floating shelf urn not only holds your loved one’s remains, but it also provides a space to place a picture or other trinkets on top. This shelf has a compartment inside that hold the remains but looks just like any other shelf. This can be nice if you wish to have your loved one’s ashes displayed discretely.

Final Thoughts

These are by no means, all of the options for urns today. A simple online search will yield many options, from plain to crazy one-of-a-kind custom pieces. If you are considering cremation services in Columbia, TN., know that you will have no trouble finding your perfect urn.
