Avoid Scattering a Loved One’s Cremated Remains in These Places

July 12, 2021

When you go to scatter a loved one’s cremated remains following their cremation services in Dickson, TN , you’ll have no shortage of options. You can scatter a loved one’s remains out at sea, in a national park, or even in your own backyard in some cases. But there are going to be some places that you shouldn’t try to scatter a loved one’s remains. You can get yourself into some trouble if you do. Find out about the places that you should avoid scattering a loved one’s remains below.

On a beach

If your loved one was a huge fan of the water, then scattering their remains on a beach in the aftermath of their Dickson, TN cremation might make all the sense in the world. But it’s not actually legal to do this. If you scatter your loved one’s remains on the beach, it could lead to other people and animals coming into contact with them. It’s why you’re not permitted to do it. You’re going to have to take their remains out to sea if you want to scatter them in the water.

In a sports stadium or arena

If your loved one loved a particular sports team, you might be thinking that you want to show their loyalty to that team by scattering their remains in the team’s stadium or arena. But this is not going to be allowed under almost any circumstances. While some teams will occasionally run promotions that allow families to scatter their loved one’s remains on their fields or courts, they don’t do this very often. So you shouldn’t count on being able to scatter a loved one’s remains in a sports stadium or arena since they’re both private property.

In an amusement park

Scattering a loved one’s remains in Disney World has become pretty popular in recent years. But families aren’t actually supposed to do it and could get themselves kicked off the property if they do. They could also have their loved one’s remains vacuumed up and disposed of elsewhere. Your loved one may have loved Disney World or some other Disney property, but that doesn’t mean you should attempt to scatter their remains there. You’re going to be asking for trouble if you do.

On any other piece of private property

Generally speaking, it’s never going to be a good idea for you to try and scatter a loved one’s remains on any piece of private property out there. Unless you have permission from the owner of that property, you’ll be breaking the law if you choose to do it. You should always inquire as to whether or not a piece of property is private before scattering a loved one’s remains there. It could prevent you from having to deal with a huge headache at some point down the line.
