Our hearts are heavy to announce the passing of Constance Shelia Steele on Monday, May 11, 2015 at the age of 59.
The family will celebrate her life with a memorial service on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Limestone Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, Tennessee with Rev. Wayne McCullough officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
Constance was born on September 26, 1955 to James Willie Reams, Jr. and Dora Neal Carter Carothers in Franklin, Tennessee. The life she lived before she passed was simply amazing. She was a graduate of the 1973 class of Franklin High School. She went on to become a graduate of Meharry Medical School with an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. She was the only dental hygienist for the State of Tennessee Prison System for over thirty years. She married the love of her life, Charles Edward Steele on July 15, 1978 and raised a family together with him while working hard in her profession.
Her children remember her as their loving mother and best friend. She retired from her job with the State of Tennessee in 2002 and spent the remainder of her years surrounded by laughter, warmth and love. Their time together reminiscing brought about one of their pet names for her, “Paper Sack Brown Sugar”. She was baptized in September of 1970 and was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Franklin, Tennessee and of the Red Hat Society.
Mrs. Steele is survived by her loving husband: Charles Edward Steele, Sr; children: Charles Edward Steele, II “Deuce” and Chivas Shannette Steele and Nicole Jones; daughter-in-law: Andrea Waters; brother: Larry Gaines; and several close relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: James Willie Reams, Jr. and Dora Neal Carter Carothers; sisters: Loretta Steele and Jacqueline Annette Carter.
