Dorthy Santaguido, born in Valentine, Nebraska, passed away at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 27, 2024. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Dorthy is survived by her cherished son, Dallas (Tracy) Sessoms; stepdaughters: Tonia (James) Zdarko and Ashley Santaguido; and her adored grandchildren: Morgan (Cody) Maier, Samantha (Austin) Robinson, Kirsten (Jordan) Porter, Justin (Leandro) Porter Diaz, Alyssa (Cam) Michael, Alex (Kaitlyn) Degenhardt, Marina Zdarko, and James Zdarko. She also leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren: Aiden, Brantley, Rosie Kate, Maverick, Chloe, and Remi Grace.
Preceding her in death is her devoted husband, Anthony “Tony” Santaguido and her parents, Albert Bettcher and Della (Bettcher) Jensen.
Dorthy was known for her kind and gentle spirit. Her passion for all things equestrian was evident in her love of show horses. She found joy in gardening, reveling in the beauty of nature, and delighting in the presence of hummingbirds. Dorthy had a distinctive flair, often seen in her cherished cheetah print attire, and she took pride in her eclectic collection of state souvenir bells and ceramic angels. Her warmth and unique personality will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church on August 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with one hour of visitation prior to service time. Dorthy will be laid to rest in the church's columbarium.
