Elizabeth Ann Mason, beloved wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother passed away under hospice care in Nashville, Tennessee on June 7, 2024 at the age of 78.
She was born August 24, 1945 at All Souls Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey to Patsy and Rose (Giordano) Sandello. Liz was a woman of remarkable strength, intelligence, and determination. She was the loving wife of Joseph Mason for over 50 years with whom she built a life full of love and shared accomplishments.
As a mother to Rosemarie, David (Carrie), and Donald, she was a beacon of love and support. She guided them with wisdom and nurtured them with unconditional love. Being a grandmother to Wesley, Maddie, Marina, Jessa, Cole, and Landon brought her immense joy and she adored them. She was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mary Lou Rizzo (Angelo), Carol Imbimbo (Paul), and nephew Joe Imbimbo.
Liz moved to Florida in 1971 with her mother after the death of her father. Shortly thereafter, she met her husband Joe and they married October 5, 1973.
Professionally she was a trailblazer in different fields. She and Joe started Automated Moving, a local and long distance moving company, in 1979, in Boca Raton, Florida. Liz ran the day-to-day business and managed the warehouse and employees while her husband did all the long distance moving. The American Business Women’s Association, at their national convention in Las Vegas, even recognized her for her contribution for being in a nontraditional business field for women. A breaking barrier for women’s recognition award. Then, in 1984, Liz and Joe moved their family to Vero Beach, Florida where she worked many years in real estate before heading back to school to earn a degree in nursing. After becoming a registered nurse, Liz worked night shift as a pediatric nurse and then home care. Eventually, in 2005, she and another nurse built Aftercare Nursing, a home health agency in Vero Beach, which is still open today. No matter her professional role, Liz was respected and admired by her colleagues and employees for her leadership skills and compassion.
Beyond her professional achievements, Liz’s greatest joy was being with and building a loving family with her husband, Joe. Words cannot express how deeply her family will miss her but her spirit will live on through the love she had for them and memories shared.
