Gene Bartels

Mr. Eugene “Gene” Bartels, age 76 of Thompsons Station, TN, and New Port Richey, FL, died Monday at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, TN. Mr. Bartels was a native of Greenville, MS and son of the late Albert & Irene Gassell Bartels. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force, and was a graduate of Mississippi College. Gene married Rosemarie Streeter in 1957, celebrating their 54 years of marriage on Feb. 16. He loved his friends and family, and greatly enjoyed the relaxation and free time doing what he wanted in his retirement. He split his residency between his home in New Port Richey, FL and Thompsons Station, TN. Gene is survived by his wife: Rosemarie Bartels of New Port Richey, FL; and three children: Timothy Bartels of Franklin, TN, Debra Bartels of Thompsons Station, TN, and Daniel Bartels of Palmer, MA; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Gene will be laid to rest, with military honors provided by the United States Air Force, at the Nashville National Cemetery in Madison, TN, Thursday March 10, at 1:00 PM. Arrangements under the direction of Cremation Society of Tennessee.
