Joseph Vincent Garr, age 65 of Nashville Tennessee, passed away October 26, 2014. Joe was born September 27, 1949 to the late August Anthony ‘Gus’ Garr and Kathleen Baltz Garr. He is a graduate of Father Ryan High School and attended St. Ambrose University. Joe is survived by siblings Nancy Garr Schwartz Bob, Tony Garr Madeline, Chris Garr Terrie, Greg Garr, Deborah Garr Varallo Jim, Roy Garr Hazel, Steve Garr Regina, Don Garr Sharon, Jeff Garr Cheryl, Cindy Garr Winter Kevin, Joan Garr Hamrick Greg and Pat Garr Leanne; numerous nieces and nephews and countless cousins. In his youth he served the Catholic Church in a number of ways and was always an outstanding student at Father Ryan. Joe was a member of the first Diocese of Nashville missionary trips to Port a Prince, Haiti, where he assisted in building a school for the community. He continued to give of himself through life. He was a ten-gallon blood donor to the American Red Cross. He was a devoted employee and his employers always appreciated his devotion and commitment to the company and to his responsibilities. Joe had a very kind soul and generous to all around him. Through the years he has provided financial support to another Diocese Haiti project – Visitation Hospital Foundation A memorial will be scheduled in December.
