Kathy Hewett

Kathy Shifflett Hewett “Shorty” went home to be with her precious Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 2, 2021, at the age of 70. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior 17 years ago. Kathy was a prayer warrior and stormed the gates of Hell every day for her children and grandchildren. Her motto was always, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” She had an amazing faith and honored the Lord through every trial that she faced.

Kathy was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, to Joseph Shifflett and Nellie Woodson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Hunt and by her husband, Ertel (Buddy) Hewett.

Survivors include her daughter, Tina Adkins and husband, Lionel; son, Chopper Showers and wife, Lisa; son, Cody Showers and wife Christina: grandchildren, Lucas, Erica and Noah Adkins, Shana Woods, Logan Showers, Jessica and Keyana Sonifrank, Elyssa, Des’Tanee, Bryceton, Cameron,and Dae. She also leaves behind great grandchildren, Aubriella, Atlas, and Atreus, and lifelong friends, Bonnie Wagner and Donna Harrelson, and other extended family members.

Kathy loved her family fiercely and enjoyed “making memories” with her grandchildren , among which slumber parties and movie nights were her favorites. She was also brave enough for an adventure of riding with them as soon as they got their driver’s licenses. It was her greatest joy to serve her family.

A memorial service will be held at Temple Baptist Church, 1030 Minerva Drive, Murfreesboro, TN on Thursday, December 9,2021 at 6:30pm with Pastor Sam Epley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Missions Program of Temple Baptist Church.
