With sorrow and sadness, we must announce the death of L. Lee Benedict on May 6th, 2013. Lee was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Mildred Benedict, wife Donna Bryant Benedict, all of Knoxville, and sister Millie of Columbia S.C. He is survived by son Michael and his wife Brenda, grandsons, Blake Benedict, Caleb and Christian Underwood all of Maryville, brother Bert D. Benedict and wife Kathleen of Knoxville, and brother-in-law David A Lawson of Columbia S.C., many, many cousins, nephews and nieces. Special feline friends Paws and Crystal. Lee attended Knoxville Catholic High and then joined the U.S Air Force serving as a jet mechanic. He saws tours of duty in Europe, Africa and the U. S. during his distinguished military career. After his service years he returned to Knoxville and married the love of his life Donna Faye Bryant. He worked with dear friend, Bill Hall at Hall x-Ray for many years and then started his own business, Alpha Images which he operated until his death. Along the way he was also the chief engr. for Dogwood Plastics Inc. Lee was a mechanical expert who understood and could repair any engine, industrial or medical equipment. He was a true patriot who loved his country. His hobbies were UT Football and was a long time Lady Vols Basketball fan. Lee was a kind, shy, loving man who very quietly helped so many people. A true friend, father and brother until the end. He will be placed in a place of honor, the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Governor John Sevier Hwy in Knoxville on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. It overlooks the beautiful French Broad River where he can rest alongside those other Americans, who like himself, loved so much this great country of ours and who have served us all with their sacrifices along the way. God Bless this wonderful man, we are so fortunate to have had him among us.
