Lena V. Gurner

Lena V. Gurner, age 90, and a resident at Lewis County Manor for the past several years, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

Lena was born on June 11, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, to Louis Galofaro and Gussie Zambara Galafaro. She was a very sweet lady, who was easy to love. She had a wonderful smile, and was a joy to be around. One of her favorite things to do was to cook Italian food for her family. She also loved Detroit Tigers Baseball and playing Buncco. She worked on the production line for an automotive manufacturer. She was of the Christian faith.

Lena is survived by her children: Kathalena Carroll, Joann Gurner, and Joe (Sharon) Gurner, Jr.; grandchildren: Larry Michael (Heather) Carroll, Lori (Jason) Gray, Joseph Brian (Leah) Gurner, Stephanie Marie (Dan) Krysinski, and Casey Ryan Gurner; several great-grandchildren; and siblings: Rose, Betty Lou, and Bill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Sam, Anna, and Joe.

The family will celebrate Lena’s life with a memorial service at a later date.
