Mr. James Mark Counce, age 69 of Lawrenceburg, died Friday evening at the York Campus of the VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro. Mark was a native of Savannah, TN and son of the late J.E. Counce and Mrs. Mildred Walker Counce, who survives, of Lawrenceburg. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was was a retired dispatcher with Sharp Transport. He owned a printing business and sold real estate while living in Savannah, TN. DUring his earlier years, he worked for Tennessee River Pulp and Paper Company. In addition to his mother, Mildred Counce of Lawrenceburg, Mark is survived by his wife of 50 years: Bettye Harrison Counce of Lawrenceburg; two sons: Russell Counce and wife Sandy of Ethridge and Duane “Bubba” Counce of Lawrenceburg; a brother: Robert Counce of Lawrenceburg; and a sister: Marilyn Canale of NC. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Colby, Caroline, Jonathan, Ashley, and Makayla. The family will gather on Friday, January 21, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church to visit and share their memories of Mark. They will celebrate his life with a service at the church at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow immediately after in the Lawrence County Memorial Gardens. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church.
