Mr. Paul Edward Norman, Sr, age 83, died peacefully at his residence in Johnson City, TN on Monday, August 31, 2009. A native of Harlan, KY, Mr. Norman was the son of the late Joseph Maynard and Alice Pauline Erwin Norman. He served his country during the Korean War as special photographer to Gen. Douglas McArthur. He retired, the first time, as an auditor with Western Auto and began overseeing chalet rentals in Gatlinburg, TN. He enjoyed his second career as long as his health would permit. His greatest achievement was as a husband and father. He married the former Carolyn Pipkin. The 68 year marriage was blessed with three children: Paul Norman, Jr. of Knoxville, TN; Carol Rieben of Bay Minette, AL; and Rebecca Rollins of Johnson City, TN; six grandchildren: Paul TreyNorman III, Emily Norman, Joseph Norman, Eli Rieben, Will Rieben, and Mia Neff Abrams; and 2 great grandchildren. Mr. Norman will be remembered for his strong sense of family. He was dedicated to providing the family with summer trips that ensured a love for travel and the opportunity to experience many destinations. Even through his pain, he duty and commitment to his family was his most important task. Family services for Mr. Norman will be private.
