Roger Dean Kamin

Roger Dean Kamin, age 74 of Columbia, passed away July 3, 2012 at NHC Columbia in Columbia, TN. He was born on February 18, 1938 in Peoria, IL. to the late William Martin Kamin and the late Gladys Lorraine Kerr. He served our country in the United States Marine Corps in Quantico, VA. and Japan, and was honorably discharged in 1961. During his time at Quantico, he met and married his wife of 43 years, the late Frankie Marie Kamin. He was also a valued team member of the Municipal Utilities Board in Albertville, AL. in the 1960’s, and worked for the Uniroyal-Goodwrich Tire Company, in Opelika, AL. for 25 years from which he later retired. Before his move to Columbia, TN. in 2008 he was actively involved in the American Legion in Opelika, AL. He is survived by his daughters, Terri K. Pierce, of Orange Beach, AL. and Jennifer Kamin of Opelika, AL., his son-in-law, Miles Pierce of Orange Beach, AL., and grandsons, Allen M. Pierce, IV, United States Coast Guard, Station Port O’Conner, TX. and Trevor Dean Pierce of Orange Beach, AL. as well as his best friend and companion, Mable Bailey of Columbia, TN. formerly of Opelika, AL. From Peoria, IL. his sister-in-law, Jean Kamin, nephews, Gary & Paul Kamin and cousins, Julie Shermak, and Brenda Craig, of East Peoria. From Chillicothe, IL. his first cousin, Sonny West and wife Sarah. Visitation will be conducted in Albertville, AL. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 1:00 pm with the funeral to follow at 3:00 pm. Cremation Society of Tennessee is currently assisting the family with arrangements.
