Carden, Sarah Cecelia Johnson of Hendersonville, TN died at age 101 on April 20. She was preceded in death by father, William John Johnson; mother, Jennie May Wherry Johnson; husband, John Lewis Carden; and five siblings. She is survived by her sister, Susan Ann Johnson Brockett; son, John Lewis Carden, Jr. Semra; daughter, Mary Lu Carden Batey Charles; grandson, Charles Trent Batey Carrie; grandson, Benjamin Lewis Batey Melodye; granddaughter, Sarah Marie Batey Ice Chad; granddaughter, Kate Carden Batey Melby Joel; four great grandchildren, Avery Cecelia and Robert Lewis Batey of Hendersonville, Charles Augustus Batey of Hendersonville, and Calvin Yosef Ice of Nashville. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a charter member of the Madison Circle of King’s Daughters and a founding member of the King’s Daughters Day Home. She was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 29 at the First Presbyterian Church of Hendersonville. Services begin at 5:00 preceded by an hour of visitation with the family. The Rev. Michael Davis will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the King’s Daughters Child Development Center, 590 North DuPont St., Madison, TN 37115 or the First Presbyterian Church, 172 West Main St., Hendersonville, TN 37075.
