Shirley Yvonne Atkerson

Shirley Yvonne Thomas Atkerson, age 69, of Savannah, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Jackson General Hospital, in Jackson, Tennessee.

Shirley was born in Riverside County, California on December 2, 1947 to Thurman Wilson Thomas and Rose Evelyn Miller Thomas. She was the wife of Floyd Edward Atkerson and was a dedicated mother to their children. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed by all. She was a wonderful woman who dedicated her life to caring for others, choosing the to work as a licensed vocational nurse. She was a Christian.

Shirley is survived by her children: Linda Allen, Floyd Edward Atkerson, Thurman Thomas Atkerson and David Wayne Atkerson; 12 grandchildren, 2 sisters and 1 brother. She was preceded in death by her parents: Thurman and Rose Thomas; husband: Floyd Atkerson and daughter: Shirley Atkerson.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date to celebrate the life of Shirley and she will be laid to rest in Riverside, California at the side of her husband, Floyd Atkerson and daughter and namesake, Shirley Yvonne Atkerson.
