When you’re mapping out cremation services in Columbia, TN for a loved one, there are lots of different decisions that you’re going to have to make. From what kind of services you want to hold for them to what you want to do with their cremated remains, you and your family will be asked to make one decision after another. One of the decisions that might catch you a little bit off-guard is the one that involves choosing what your loved one will wear when they’re cremated. It’s a decision that most families don’t consider ahead of time. Here are some of the options that you’ll have to choose from.
A hospital gown
Many times, a family will choose to have their loved one cremated in whatever they were wearing when their body was sent to a Columbia, TN funeral home. And since a lot of people show up at funeral homes with a hospital gown on after spending time in a hospital, it’s not all that uncommon for them to be cremated right in their gown. There are also some people who are cremated in other casual attire like pajamas and nightgowns. This is usually the easiest option for families.
Formal attire
Would you prefer to have your loved one cremated in something a little bit more formal than a hospital gown, pajamas, or a nightgown? There are some families that opt to cremate their loved ones in formal attire, like fancy suits and dresses. If your loved one was someone who spent a lot of time curating a certain look, you might want to send them out in style by putting them into a suit or dress. Since you might be giving away a lot of their clothing anyway in the aftermath of their death, it’s not a bad idea to take this approach to dressing your loved one for their cremation.
An outfit that was special to them
Maybe your loved one had a tracksuit that they loved to wear almost every day. Or maybe they had an outfit that they put on every time they sat down to watch their favorite sports team play on TV. Whatever the case, you and your family will be able to cremate them in an outfit that was special to them if you want. Your family might also want to save this outfit in remembrance of them. But if you’re not planning on doing that, you may want to consider dressing them in their favorite outfit one last time for their cremation.
Nothing at all
Want to send your loved one out the same way that they came into this world? Most funeral homes will allow you to cremate them without any clothes on if that’s the approach your family wants to take. While it’s certainly not an ideal choice for families that plan on holding a special service with their loved one in attendance right before their cremation, it might not be a bad option for families that aren’t going to be holding any kind of service.
